Segundo's story

Perhaps many people don't know the meaning of the acronym EVS, but for me this letters and all that are behind them have changed my life.

The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is the European Commission's project that allows the young people to become a volunteer in another country for a specified period and involves a triangular partnership; a volunteer, a sending organisation and a host organisation.

All began in my sending organization, Europa Joven San Blas, where they told me about this European project, and after thinking a lot about it I started looking for an organization. Among the thousands of European organizations, Taka Tuka was the organization that obtained the highest score in my personal ranking, and after some weeks of anxious waiting, the project was finally approved and I had a passport to Slovenia.

From the first day I felt very integrated in Taka Tuka and Slovenian society, although I still have much to learn, everyone in Slovenia has treated me very well and I feel very lucky to spend a great year in this beautiful city.

Volunteering in Taka Tuka, is being a great experience, but also a big challenge. I am doing a lot of activities with which I'm growing not only my work experience but also personally. I highly recommend to any young person who wants to increase its open mind to participate in this great adventure that is the EVS.

If we cannot now end our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity.
